Playa Grande, Costa Rica -  Another big thunderstorm came through Playa Grande all of last night.  Rainy season is amongst us.  The water was very dirty, disorganized and un-surfable.  Strong onshore winds were blowing this morning.  I guess we’ll just have to hope for some better weather and conditions for tomorrow.

Costa Rica Tides:

We had a morning high tide of 7.74ft @8.10am, dropping down to a low tide of 1.78ft @ 2:29pm, then moving back up to a high tide of 6.83ft @ 8:49pm tonight.

We currently have cloudy skies with strong onshore winds.  It has been raining off and on today and it looks like we’ll get some more later this evening and night.

Costa Rica Surf Report:

2-4ft Knee to chest high waves with poor shape

Playa Grande, Costa Rica -   The swell really dropped overnight and a rain storm that passed through has turned the surf to weak mushy junk this morning.  The wind was light onshore already and the conditions sloppy.  Also, the tide is really right now.  Maybe things will clean up as the tide drops a bit.  Don’t hold your breath.

Costa Rica Tides:

We had an early morning high tide of 9.07ft @ 4:52am, dropping down to a low tide of 0.53ft @ 10:58am, then moving back up to a high tide of 8.42ft @ 5:09pm this evening.

4-6ft Chest to head high waves with poor to fair shape

Playa Grande, Costa Rica -   The swell cleaned up overnight and got pretty good this morning.  The wind was light offshore and the conditions were really glassy.  The surf was good for a while on the dropping tide and I expect things get good on the incoming tide.  That is, if the wind conditions hold up.

Costa Rica Weather:

We currently have partly sunny skies with light onshore winds and a slight chance of rain later today.   It looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day down here in Playa Grande, Costa Rica.

Playa Grande, Costa Rica -   The swell dropped off a little  again overnight, but the waves are already looking a better even though we need more tide.  The wind is light onshore, but conditions are still looking fairly glassy.  The tide is on its way in so expect things to start working by 1:00pm.  See you out there.

6-8ft Head high to overhead waves with poor shape

Playa Grande, Costa Rica -   The swell has dropped off a little  overnight, but the waves are closing out and looking like junk in Playa Grande this morning.  The wind was already coming onshore and conditions are looking fairly choppy.  The tide is very low and unless the winds clean up, I wouldn’t expect much for this afternoon.

We had a morning low tide of 0.87ft @ 9:16am, moving up to a high tide of 8.63ft @ 3:25pm, then dropping back down to a low tide of 0.46ft @ 9:29pm tonight.

7-9ft Overhead waves with poor shape

Playa Grande, Costa Rica -   The waves picked up quite a bit overnight, but the swell is too big for the sandbars in Playa Grande.  The wind was light offshore/variable sideshore and conditions are looking fairly glassy.  Today is a good one to head over to the reefs if you want to get the most of this swell.

We had a morning low tide of 1.19ft @ 8:40am, moving up to a high tide of 8.47ft @ 2:49pm, then dropping back down to a low tide of 0.63ft @ 8:56pm tonight.
