Surf Report - Pavones, Costa Rica - May 31, 2011

Costa Rica Surf Report:

10-12ft + Double overhead + waves with poor to fair shape.

Pavones, Costa Rica – The waves were really big in Pavones today.  The swell that showed up yesterday really picked up overnight and the surf is extremely consistent with non-stop sets slamming the coastline.  The wind is the problem today, with bay winds creating sideshore wind chop and tons of current ripping through the line up.  There were some big bombs coming through for the one or two takers that actually paddled out in the lineup, but it looked like a lot of work for not much reward.  If the wind cleaned up it could get completely epic, as the point looked like it was connecting the entire way.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Costa Rica Tides:

We had an early morning low tide of 1.63ft @ 7:32am, pushing up to a high tide of 8.50ft @ 1:51pm, then dropping down to low tide of 0.74ft @ 8:08pm tonight.

Costa Rica Weather:

The weather in southern Costa Rica was warm with mostly sunny skies this morning in Pavones, Costa Rica.  The wind was onshore and surfing conditions were mixed up.

Please Note: My camera’s shutter is no longer functioning and the camera immediately began displaying a ERR 99 message, which essentially means that I need to purchase a new camera, as the cost to repair in Costa Rica isn’t worth the trouble.  In the meantime, I’ve borrowed a friends camera until I get my new hotness.  Hopefully, this will not affect the surf reports adversely and I can continue posting up-to-date surf reports for Pavones, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Surf Report:

8-12ft  Overhead to double overhead waves with fair to good shape.

Pavones, Costa Rica – The waves were big in Pavones today.  The swell picked up overnight and is extremely consistent with non-stop sets.  The wind never blew out remaining glassy to semi-glassy all day.  There was a little bump early from a storm that passed through late last night, but it seemed to clean up a bit later with glassy conditions for a few hours before coming onshore again later, making it a bit challenging at the point.

Hopefully, it is clean early.  I’m fired up!
